Done in ten seconds
One sunny school morning, two friends had exactly enough time to brush — or so they thought. Maya and Leo burst through the bathroom door together, elbows bumping, and squeeze far too much toothpaste out in one messy blob. “Done in ten seconds — new record!” They scrub frantically for about five seconds and spit.
一個陽光明媚的上學早晨，兩個朋友以為自己剛好有足夠時間刷牙。瑪雅和里奧一起衝進浴室門口，手肘互相撞到，還擠出了多得不得了的一大坨牙膏。「十秒就刷完——新紀錄！」他們手忙腳亂地刷了大約五秒，然後吐掉泡沫。
The mirror tells the truth
Then they look up. Maya has a white smear of toothpaste on her chin. Leo opens wide and finds his back teeth completely untouched. Their confident grins fade into puzzled stares. “Leo… my chin is toothpaste.” “And my back teeth are still… fuzzy.” “How long are we supposed to brush?” “No idea. But I want to find out!”
接著，他們抬頭一看。瑪雅的下巴上沾著一道白色牙膏痕。里奧張大嘴巴，發現他的後排牙齒完全沒刷到。他們自信的笑容變成困惑的瞪視。「里奧……我下巴上都是牙膏。」「而且我的後排牙齒還是……毛茸茸的。」「我們到底該刷多久？」「不知道，但我想找出答案！」
Building the two-minute song
Maya climbs onto the step stool and counts the zones on her fingers: front teeth, top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right — and tongue. Leo taps a beat on the stool and stretches his little four-beat hum into a looping chant. They sway together as the song grows, pointing at each zone in turn, with two whole minutes on the clock.
瑪雅爬上小踏凳，用手指數著各個區域：前排牙齒、左上、右上、左下、右下——還有舌頭。里奧在凳子上打著拍子，把他小小的四拍哼唱延長成一段循環口訣。隨著歌曲越來越完整，他們一起搖擺，依序指向每個區域，而時鐘上有整整兩分鐘。
The verses in the wrong order
They run the whole chant, strike a finishing pose and slap a wild high-five — then Leo freezes. “I sang the tongue verse… but forgot to brush my tongue.” Maya checks the sink. Completely dry. “And I never rinsed!” The rinse verse belongs at the end. They swap the two verses and start again, giggling the whole time.
他們唱完整段口訣，擺出結束姿勢，興奮地擊掌——然後里奧愣住了。「我唱了刷舌頭那一段……卻忘了刷舌頭。」瑪雅看看水槽，裡面乾乾的。「而且我根本還沒漱口！」漱口那段應該放在最後。他們交換兩段歌詞的位置，再重新開始，整個過程笑個不停。
A new member of the Tooth Team
The corrected chant runs from the top — every zone in order, tongue brushed for real, the full two minutes ticking by, and a proper rinse at the end. “Now THAT is a sparkly grin.” Just then Pip toddles in, clutching a yellow toothbrush in both tiny hands. Without a word to each other, Maya and Leo crouch down to his level, Leo hums the rhythm, and all three brush in foamy, happy sync.
修正後的口訣從頭唱起——每個區域都照順序刷到，舌頭也真的刷了，完整兩分鐘一秒秒過去，最後再好好漱口。「這才叫閃亮亮的笑容。」就在這時，皮普搖搖晃晃地走進來，兩隻小手緊緊握著一把黃色牙刷。瑪雅和里奧不用彼此說話，就一起蹲到和他一樣的高度；里奧哼著節奏，三個人滿嘴泡沫、開開心心地同步刷牙。
