The moon comes to say goodnight
In a soft little nursery, the moon comes every night to say goodnight. Its round face peeks through the wide window and lays a slow silver beam across the patchwork quilt. Nola, a small elephant calf, is already tucked in, eyes half closed, trunk curled on her pillow.
在一间温馨的小小婴儿房里，月亮每天晚上都会来道晚安。它圆圆的脸从宽大的窗户外探进来，在拼布被子上洒下一束缓缓移动的银色月光。小象宝宝诺拉已经盖好被子，眼睛半闭着，鼻子蜷在枕头上。
A cloud hides the moon
A cloud drifts across the window and the beam vanishes. Nola sits up, ears flopping forward. “Oh! Where did the moon go? Did it forget me?” High on the shelf, Bramble the teddy bear blinks open his one good button eye. “The moon never forgets, Nola. It visits every toy first. The moonbeam always finds your pillow last — that is how you know it is truly time to sleep.”
一朵云飘过窗前，月光消失了。诺拉坐起身来，耳朵耷拉到前面。“哦！月亮去哪儿了？它是不是忘记我了？”高高的架子上，泰迪熊布兰布尔睁开了那只完好的纽扣眼。“月亮从不会忘记，诺拉。它会先去看望每一个玩具。月光总是最后才找到你的枕头——这样你就知道，真的该睡觉了。”
Goodnight to everyone
The cloud slips away and the beam returns. Nola steps into her slippers and pads softly around the room, following the light wherever it goes. She tucks a rag doll under a tiny blanket, whispers goodnight to a wooden rabbit, and lays a spinning top gently on its side so it can rest too.
云朵飘走了，月光又回来了。诺拉穿上拖鞋，轻轻地在房间里走来走去，跟着月光去往的每一处。她给布娃娃盖上一条小毯子，对木头小兔轻声说晚安，还轻轻把陀螺放倒，让它也能休息。
The beam stops on the shelf
Sure she is finished, Nola turns back to her bed — but the moonbeam is not on her pillow yet. It has paused high on the shelf, resting on Bramble. He climbed down to help her and his red ribbon is snagged on the shelf edge. “Oh dear. I’m a little stuck.” “Bramble! I nearly left you behind!”
诺拉确信自己已经做完了，便转身回到床边——可月光还没有落在她的枕头上。它停在高高的架子上，照着布兰布尔。他为了帮她爬了下来，红丝带却被架子边缘挂住了。“哎呀，我有点卡住了。”“布兰布尔！我差点把你落下了！”
Last of all, the moonbeam finds Nola
Nola reaches up with her trunk, carefully unhooks the ribbon, and gathers Bramble into a soft squeeze. The moment she settles him in the crook of her arm, the moonbeam slides forward — across the floor, up the bed, and falls warm and silver exactly on her pillow, just as Bramble promised. “Goodnight, moon.” The round face in the window seems to smile, and the whole nursery drifts into soft, still sleep.
诺拉伸起鼻子，小心地解开丝带，把布兰布尔轻轻抱进怀里。就在她把他安放在臂弯中时，月光向前滑来——掠过地板，爬上床铺，暖暖的银光正好落在她的枕头上，就像布兰布尔说的那样。“晚安，月亮。”窗外那张圆圆的脸仿佛笑了，整间婴儿房都慢慢沉入柔和、安静的睡眠中。
