Gemini Storybook is the strongest genuinely free option: Google generates a fixed 10-page illustrated story with audio narration in about a minute, at no cost, in 45+ languages. The limits are that the length is fixed, revisions happen by asking in chat rather than editing a page, printing is whatever your browser does, and it is available to users aged 18 and over. Story Spark and StoryJumper also have free tiers, and ReadKidz itself is free to start with 1500 credits.
There is a free plan with 1500 credits, which is enough to make and read a book. PDF exports on the free plan carry a watermark; a paid plan removes it. You do not need a card to start.
ReadKidz exports a print-sized PDF and publishes a step-by-step KDP guide covering the interior, the cover, and the upload. Childbook.ai includes a commercial licence on its $99/month Business plan. Story Spark's Creator plan states you own the AI-generated content. For every other tool on this page, check the terms before you sell anything: several allow personal and gift use but do not clearly grant resale rights.
