How to make a picture book with AI

Making a picture book with AI means describing the story you want, then letting the tool write it, design its characters and paint every page while you steer. This walkthrough shows the whole thing being made in ReadKidz, in four short parts — watch it all or just the part you are stuck on.

Part 1

Write the story

Type one sentence, let Pudding write the story, then reshape it — the whole story in about a minute.

Read the steps
  1. Type your idea Everything starts here. Type your story idea — one sentence is enough. You can also paste a whole story, or bring in a character you already made.
  2. Options are optional Genre, age and page shape are optional — Auto picks well. Age also sets how long the book is, so younger readers get a shorter one. Then press send.
  3. Pudding writes Pudding starts writing your story. The wait reports in as it goes, so you can see which stage it has reached, and the finished text arrives word by word.
  4. Read and reshape Read your story on the left; your cast and pages sit on the right. Want a change? Tell Pudding — like “make the ending warmer”.
  5. Fix one passage To rewrite one passage, select it. A small toolbar offers one-tap fixes — smoother, shorter, more vivid — and changes only that passage.

Part 2

Choose the look

Pick the art family for your book and see a visual proposal before any page is painted — your first one is free.

  1. Choose the look Now choose how your book looks. Browse the gallery — each style is an art family with its own hand, and there are several pages of them. Pick one and press Use this style to lock it in.
  2. Your first proposal is free First, a visual proposal — so you feel the book’s atmosphere before any page is painted. Your first one is free; after that it is a paid step. Like it? Continue into the editor.

Part 3

Cast and pictures

Meet the characters, scenes and props your book uses, change any picture just by asking — and keep the cast for your next book.

  1. Your book’s workbench This is your book’s workbench: pages down the left, the open page in the middle, its text and cast on the right.
  2. Meet your cast Now meet your cast. This is where every character, place and object gets its look — draw one, then keep the version you love.
  3. Portraits, scenes, props Each character gets a portrait plus a base-look sheet, so they stay recognizable on every page. Below them live the scenes and props.
  4. Change any picture Not happy with an image? Open it and tell Pudding what to change — like “add a small red scarf”. Only that image is repainted.
  5. Your cast is kept Every character you finish is kept in your Character Workshop by itself. Your next book can cast the same character, drawn the same way — no need to describe them again.

Part 4

Make the book

Rearrange or add pages, then one click paints every one — and your finished book is ready to read, print, or become a video.

  1. Rearrange the pages Your pages are not fixed. Drag a card to reorder, or use the plus between two cards to add one. You can also make a page a double spread — one picture across two pages.
  2. Paint every page Now paint the book. Generate all queues every illustration at once — go make a cup of tea while the pages draw themselves.
  3. Your book is ready And that’s it — your first book is ready to read, to print, to stand up as a 3D pop-up, or to become a video. Each of those has its own short guide.
