Frequently asked questions
Will my characters look the same on every page?
Yes — that's the point of the system. Each character is designed once and reused as the reference for every illustration, so the bear on page 12 is the same bear from page 1. Authors name this as the hardest part of illustrating with generic AI image tools; here it's the default.
Can I use the story I've already written?
Yes. Paste your text and ReadKidz can keep it word-for-word, splitting it into pages and illustrating each one. Your words stay yours — the AI handles the pictures, not a rewrite.
Can I publish or sell the illustrated book?
Under the current ReadKidz Terms of Service, ReadKidz assigns to you the rights it holds in Outputs you create, and allows lawful personal or commercial use. You still need the rights to anything you upload or reference; the assignment does not cover ReadKidz platform materials, third-party content, or another user's work. Review the current Terms before a print run or self-publishing.
How is this different from hiring an illustrator?
They serve different needs. A human illustrator offers original art direction and a collaborative relationship. ReadKidz helps you turn a manuscript into a consistent, editable full-book draft, shows the cost before anything is charged, and lets you redo one picture without replacing the rest. Review every page and the applicable usage terms before treating AI output as production artwork.
Do I need a finished manuscript before I start?
No. You can paste a finished story and keep its wording, or bring a draft and refine the text before illustration. The important part is to approve the character designs and page plan before generating the full set of pictures.
