Biscuit's Surprise Party
A bouncy birthday song where the family dog throws the party
Lyrics
Verse 1
Little Lila turns five years old today
Biscuit the dog wants to play
He hides paper hats all around
Wait until she comes downstairs
Chorus
Happy birthday Lila hip hip hooray
Biscuit planned a surprise today
Stuffed animals gathered all around
Let us sing and make a joyful sound
Verse 2
Biscuit drags a wobbly cake so sweet
Across the kitchen with his feet
He sets it on the table just right
Everything is ready for the sight
Chorus
Happy birthday Lila hip hip hooray
Biscuit planned a surprise today
Stuffed animals gathered all around
Let us sing and make a joyful sound
Verse 3
Lila comes down and starts to smile
Everyone cheers across the mile
She blows the candles out so bright
Thank you Biscuit for this night
Chorus
Happy birthday Lila hip hip hooray
Biscuit planned a surprise today
Stuffed animals gathered all around
Let us sing and make a joyful sound
For grown-ups
Most birthday songs are about the child, sung at the child. This one is about somebody doing something kind for the child, which gives a small listener a second thing to notice: Biscuit hides the hats, drags the cake, sets the table, and only then does Lila come down the stairs. Play it on the morning of a birthday and pause after the second verse to ask who is getting the party ready, or play it the week before and let your child plan their own surprise for a sibling or a grandparent. The chorus comes back three times with the same four lines, so a two-year-old can shout the hooray by the second round and a five-year-old can sing it through, then put their own name where Lila's goes.
Talk about it together
- Who got the party ready for Lila?
- What did Biscuit hide around the house?

- What did Lila do when she saw the party?
- What surprise could you plan for someone in your family?
Frequently asked questions
What age is this birthday song for?
About 2 to 6. The lines are short, the chorus repeats three times with the same words, and the story is easy to follow, so toddlers join in on the hooray while older preschoolers can sing every verse.
Where can I find the words to sing along?
The complete lyrics are on this page, verse by verse with the chorus in between, the same words that appear on screen in the film.
Can I make a birthday song with my own child's name?
Yes. This song was made in ReadKidz from one sentence about Lila and her dog; type your child's name, age and what happens on the day, and ReadKidz writes the lyrics, sings two versions for you to choose from and films a short cartoon of the song.
Was the song written by AI?
The lyrics, the melody, the singing and the animation were all generated by ReadKidz from a single sentence about a girl turning five and her dog planning a surprise party. The characters were drawn once and kept the same in all eleven shots.
